 Is it Really that Good a Life?
Dreaming of wearing waxed jackets and growing your own vegetables going for long walks, keeping chickens or sending the kids to a better school?
A life in the countryside is for many of us, a tempting option – the idea of sitting by the Aga baking bread has been romanticised in film and fiction.
But, of course, a life in the country isn't all roses round the door. The problems that beset cities, unemployment and crime exist there too.
So why does the dream continue to endure? What can a life there offer, over urban living? Or is the rural idyll just a myth that we buy into?
Jenni is joined by writer and broadcaster Christina Odone and by Gillian Murdoch; programme manager for the Rural Women's Network.
