Girls thrive in school, where if they perform well, they can get an A. But thrust into the world of work do women fail to realise that to perform well is not enough? To get an A (a pay rise), do they have to go into their boss' office and argue the case?
Is it our reluctance to ask for a wage increase that contributes to the ongoing pay gap between men and women? Coming to the end of the financial year, how do we make that request?
As the government releases the interim report on the pay gap between men and women, Jenni speaks to Margaret Prosser, chair of the Women and Work Commission, about their proposals. And Penny Haslam and Jane Jales make their suggestions on the best way to ask for that all important pay rise.
