Le Pain Quotidien, a global chain of bakery style restaurants, has just opened its first UK store in Marylebone High Street, London.
The restaurant’s concept is based on customers eating at communal long wooden tables which seat twenty a time.
We ask how much does communal eating in restaurants still strike fear in the heart of British diners? Also, we explore how eating etiquette in public has changed in response to how we choose to take our meals at home.
Reporter Clare Jenkins visits the communal Japanese restaurant, Wagamama, in Manchester to gauge reaction among customers and staff to the idea of eating communally.
