temptress or state-builder?
Roman accounts sealed Cleopatra's reputation as a vain temptress and murderess often to be found in a bath of milk, whilst the legendary film producer Cecil B. Demille even dubbed her "the wickedest woman in history".
However, Arabic sources paint a very different picture of the queen, showing her to be a great builder, a virtuous scholar, an alchemist, physician and philosopher.
