Jill Hopkins visits Lorraine Allanson who has run a B&B at Rains Farm near Pickering for 25 years
Running a bed and breakfast is a popular fantasy for people wanting a life style change. According to the Association of Relocation Professionals there's been a surge in people wanting to set up small, rural B&B operations. Some do it to get out of the city. Others may lose an income, so turn to running a B&B to get extra money. But what's it like allowing strangers into your home? And what are the pitfalls? Lorraine Allanson is an old hand - she 's helped run a b&b at Rains Farm near Pickering for 25 years. It was started by her mother Jean as part of a scheme to encourage farms to diversify. Lorraine talked to Jill Hopkins about life at the business end of a frying pan.
