Working to reduce the effect of catastrophic winds in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is the world’s worst areas for cyclones with truly viciouswinds building up over the Bay of Bengal on average every three years. In 1970, a cyclone killed around half a million people; Cyclone Sidr in 2007 claimed around 3,500 lives, the majority of whom were women and children. It’s a situation the Red Cross is trying to address, working with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. Sally Williams reports. |
