Hayley Turner 16 Jan 2009
Britain's most successful female jockey

There are many famous women in equine sport – from racing trainers Jenny Pitman and Venetia Williams to three day event riders Lucinda Green and Zara Phillips. But when it comes to race jockeys there has never been a female member of the elite….until now. Hayley Turner has become the first woman to ride 100 winners in a calendar year – something not even Frankie Dettori managed in 2008. She’s also been voted racing personality of the year by Channel Four viewers. Dominic Prince went to meet Hayley at the yard of the trainer she rides for, Michael Bell.
