There are many famous women in equine sport – from racing trainers Jenny Pitman and Venetia Williams to three day event riders Lucinda Green and Zara Phillips. But when it comes to race jockeys there has never been a female member of the elite….until now. Hayley Turner has become the first woman to ride 100 winners in a calendar year – something not even Frankie Dettori managed in 2008.
