Alternative Halloween 26 Oct 2007
The return of All Hallow's Eve

Every year it seems that Halloween gets increasingly commercial. The American custom of trick and treating is becoming more and more popular among children and teenagers - sometimes with frightening consequences. Four years ago, Crowhurst in East Sussex decided to provide an alternative for local children. Since then, the village church has opened its doors to everyone on Halloween - even those wearing the most frightening or horrible costumes. It's an attempt to reclaim a festival which in centuries past, was known as All Hallow's Eve.

Reporter Sara Parker went along to Crowhurst to find out more.
