Soul Britannia! A new series of documentaries on BBC4 and a weekend of concerts at the Barbican are celebrating the impact of black American and Caribbean sounds on British music. Martha is joined by Jacqueline Springer, cultural critic, and Beverley Knight, Britain's most resilient soul star. They will be discussing how soul music first came to the shores of the British Isles, the musical and social contributions of UK female soul artists and the impact this has had on British society from the 1950s up until the present day.Soul Britannia The BarbicanDisclaimer
