Sometimes the grain in a piece of wood can resemble a face, or the curve of a branch may suggest an arm or leg. It is something that has inspired artists for centuries.
In Devon – especially on blustery winter days – the sculptor Heather Jansch can frequently be seen walking along the beach, eyes peeled for the bits and pieces of wood that come in on the tide.
Fiona Clampin joined Heather and her assistant Don in South Devon to find driftwood material for her latest sculpture – of a horse.Heather Jansch Official WebsiteDisclaimer
