A team of scientists in the USA announced last week that they had witnessed a 12% fall in cases of breast cancer that were sensitive to hormones in women aged 50 to 69. They believe the reason for this is the reduction in the number of women taking HRT, since a health scare in 2002. Professor Valerie Beral, Head of Cancer Research UK’s Epidemiology Unit, tells Jenni that this is good news for HRT users here, because it confirms that the increased risk of breast cancer is only an issue when they are taking HRT, and quickly recedes once they stop.Cancer Research UKDisclaimer
