Budget Weddings 26 May 2006
More of us are getting married every year and the average wedding now sets us back almost £20,000. Research suggests that most couples underestimate the cost of their big day, with increasing numbers taking out a loan to pay for it. Earlier this year the supermarkets stepped into the wedding market offering bridal gowns for as little as £60 and rings for just £20. But can you really get hitched without breaking the bank?

Martha discusses the pitfalls of matrimonial spending with Sarah Haywood author of The Wedding Bible and journalist Joan Burnie.
