The author talks about her work and her new novel The Man Who Disappeared’
In 2003, at the age of 51, Clare Morrall finally became a published author. She had been writing for twenty years but with four unpublished novels under her belt, it was not until the fifth – Astonishing Splashes of Colour – that she found a publisher and a place on the Booker shortlist along side the likes of Margaret Atwood and DBC Pierre. This month, Clare’s fourth published novel hits the shops. The Man Who Disappeared tells the story of Kate and Felix Kendall whose comfortable life is shattered when Felix disappears. He has been involved in money laundering and as Kate and the children swap their large detached house for an ex-council flat, she realises that she never really knew her husband at all. Clare Morrall joins Jenni to talk about her writing and her new novel and describes the excitement of being nominated for Britain’s most prestigious literary prize.Contemporary writers: Disclaimer
