Coming to terms with the death of a pet

Many people feel utterly lost when a pet dies. Some find it more difficult to cope with than the death of a relation. You don’t get letters of condolence. People says hurtful things like “It was only a dog,” or “only a cat.” “Get another.” Those who have had their pets put to sleep on humane grounds, feel needlessly guilty. So, how is it best to deal with the grief of pet bereavement? Why do we bond so strongly with other species? What happens to a pet after death? Jenni is joined by agony aunt Virginia Ironside and celebrity vet Bruce Fogle.
Goodbye, Dear Friend – Coming to terms with the death of a pet is published by Robson. ISBN 978-1-906217-93-8
