How to provide support
After last week's special programme and phone-in on the stigma of mental illness, Jane looks at what to do when a member of the family has mental health problems. How can a parent continue to support a child once they become an adult? And what can family members do if someone appears mentally ill but is having difficulty accepting that something is wrong? Jane talks to Margaret, who managed to persuade her daughter to seek help for depression and self-harm, but is unsure of how best to support her at university. They are joined by Marjorie Wallace from the mental health charity SANE and Cath Connolly, Family Therapist at the South London and Maudsley hospital.Making Space Mind Rethink SaneDisclaimer
