Women in the Rwandan Parliament 22 Aug 2008
The only Parliament with more women than men

Rwanda has become the first country in the world in which women outnumber men in Parliament. Election results show that 46 of the 80 seats have gone to women. Jane talks to the BBC’s correspondent in Kigali, Geoffrey Mutagoma, about why women are doing so well in Rwandan politics and what impact this is having on the lives on women in the rest of the country.
