Eating disorders in the British Asian community.
Over a million people - most of them women - suffer from eating disorders. Getting a sufferer to admit they have a problem is one of the most difficult steps on the road to recovery. A special report by the BBC's Asian Network examined why conditions like bulimia and anorexia are going un-noticed and un-diagnosed amongst British Asians, and looks at the lengths to which girls will go to keep their illnesses a secret from their families. The television presenter Konnie Huq spoke to Salma, Ravinder and Heather about their experiences of living with eating disorders. |
