Sandi Russell 28 Sep 2007
Sandi Russell
Harlem jazz, touring the Deep South and Black history.

Sandi Russell grew up in Harlem, New York and was classically trained. But it was the sounds of her childhood that were to win her over. And after hearing Ella Fitzgerald sing she settled upon a career in jazz. She has toured America, Europe and recorded her music, but she has also established herself as a writer, interested in Black and Native American history. Jane talks to Sandi Russell about the enduring appeal of jazz.

Sandi Russell will be launching her new album Sweet Thunder at a concert at London’s Southbank Centre on Saturday 29th September 2007
