Eager to work and often paid less than the legal minimum wage, immigrant maids can be found in many of Asia's Western expat houses, but human rights campaigners say abuse is widespread. Most will suffer in silence so that they can send money home or pay off debts to employment agencies. Reporter Judith Kampfner has been haunted by an incident in her childhood.
