Women in Punk 26 July 2007
Tessa Pollitt of The Slits
The contribution of women to rock music in the 1970’s and 80’s.

A new book is hoping to gain greater recognition for the musicians and singers of the punk era. This period saw a huge number of women getting involved in music and forming their own bands, but many of them did not get the long lasting recognition of other groups. Thirty years on, and as part of the launch for Dr Helen Reddington’s book,The Lost Women of Rock Music, some of these women come together to meet, many of them for the first time.

'The Lost Women of Rock Music ' by Helen Reddington is published by Ashgate - ISBN: 978 0 7546 5773 6
