Girl Geek Dinners 22 June 2007
Computer chips
Girls who can't get enough gigabytes.

We're all familiar with the name Bill Gates - but how many of us can name a famous female techie? More than half of women working in the IT industry believe that being female is a disadvantage to their careers, according to a recent survey by software company Microsoft. For decades men have dominated technology and its development. As a result, many women have found themselves sidelined and even ignored. But help is now at hand thanks to a group of women in London who have set up a monthly networking event called Girl Geek Dinners. Fellow girl geek Angela Saini went to check it out.
