Social
Funding Network 29th May 2007
Many of us respond to charity appeals by putting a small cheque in the post, but for the vast majority of the population that’s where philanthropy begins and ends. Now an organisation called The Funding Network, or Tiffin (as in TFN) for short, is promoting a different approach, aiming to make philanthropy personal, social, and even fun. At regular events across the UK, and even overseas, The Funding Network invites specially selected charities to “pitch” their cause in the presence of potential donors. The donors are then able to meet and question the charity representatives personally before deciding who to pledge their money to. Caroline Swinburne went along to an fund-raising event in Mayfair, in the heart of London.
