Peter Pan women 09 March 2007
Kathryn Beaumont and Margaret Kerry
Walt Disney’s Peter Pan caused something of a stir when it was released in 1953, with what many viewed as the too-sexy Tinker Bell – said to have been modelled on Marilyn Monroe. But the curves in fact belonged to 22 year old Margaret Kerry, who was employed to pout her lips, flash her eyes and swivel her hips on demand.

Working alongside her was the then twelve year old Kathryn Beaumont, flying through the air as Wendy and taking a painstaking three years to record her voice. As a new DVD of Peter Pan is launched in the UK, Margaret Kerry and Kathryn Beaumont join Martha Kearney to talk of giant scissors, a fear of heights and the fun they had making the film.
