Kim Longinotto has been making films for nearly thirty years. With multiple national and international prizes under her belt, she has made her name for documenting the plight of courageous women who dare to challenge the oppressive societies in which they live.
Her latest film, Sisters In Law, comes from Cameroon and gives the viewer a moving insight into the dedicated legal practices of a female prosecutor Vera and a judge, Beatrice who are both working to defend the rights of women in a traditionally patriarchal society.
Kim talks to Martha Kearney about her films and inspiration, and the power of being “the invisible woman”.
