To Retire or not To Retire
29 May 2006
With an ageing population and a national debate raging on pensions and retirement, it came as something of a surprise to the editorial team of The Oldie magazine when their recent poll revealed that 54% of respondents wanted to retire at retirement age.

Elaine Morgan is still writing for newspapers and hates the very idea of retirement; Glenys Tuersley retired early, is now secretary of the Third Age Trust, and has never looked back. Jenni discusses with them why the idea of retirement is a release for some of us, and a burden for others.
