Clothes sizes in Argentina are so small that a new law was introduced in some parts of the country at the beginning of the year to force retailers to stock clothes for normal sized women and girls.
The controversial new law is an attempt to tackle the problem of anorexia. Argentina has one of the highest rates in the world, it's estimated three times higher than in the United States. But some shops are simply refusing to comply and the clothing industry is taking a case to the Supreme Court claiming the new law is unconstitutional and breach of private sector rights.
Henrietta Harrison went shopping with some friends in Calle Florida in Buenos Aires to investigate this "tyranny of tiny sizes". And she spoke to Monica Alchull, an equal rights campaigner and advisor on the new size law. |
