The Plot: A Biography of An English Acre by Madeleine Bunting
Madeleine Bunting’s memories of Scotch Corner

The writer Madeleine Bunting has returned to the remote corner of North Yorkshire where she was raised and where her father became obsessed with a single acre of land. John Bunting was a sculptor and teacher – Antony Gormley was one of his pupils. He became fixated with his plot, dedicating his life to the erection of a war memorial and chapel there. Now Madeleine has written ‘The Plot’; about her father and the small corner of England that he loved so much. She joins Jenni in the studio.

The Plot: by Madeleine Bunting is published by Granta Books on 5 Oct 2009, priced £18.99, ISBN-10: 1847080855
