How future care should be funded
The Government is publishing a Green Paper today outlining proposals for reform of the social care system; how to provide, and pay for, the care and support of our rapidly growing population of older people, and younger people with disabilities. One aim is thought to be to try to stop people having to sell their homes to pay for residential care. But how would the new system be funded? Who will benefit and who might lose out? Jane will be joined by Phil Hope, Minister of State for Care Services, Martin Knapp, Professor of Social Policy at the London School of Economics, Imelda Redmond, Chief Executive of Carers UK and Christine Ransome-Wallis, who cared for her elderly mother for 12 years.Carers UK
