Why does it still exist?
Families with disabled children say they want to live ordinary lives, but according to new research most do not feel accepted by their communities. Half still lack access to support services that parents themselves believe are vital for their well-being. So how different is life for families with disabled children compared with 30 years ago. And why, given all the advances that have been made in providing support and changing attitudes, are so many people still facing such profound obstacles?
