The role of photographs in family life
They have the power to make us laugh, cry or blush and they tell the story of our lives. Family photographs tend to mark happy milestones and remind us of special times; birthday parties, weddings, summer holidays or a new baby. We’ll be taking a look at a new exhibition in Bradford which follows the changing fashions in baby photography. New research suggests that children whose parents display family photographs in the home grow up with greater confidence and a sense of belonging than those who don’t.
Jenni is joined by Professor Geoffrey Beattie, Head of School of Psychological Sciences, Manchester University and Patricia Holland, author of "Picturing Childhood" and senior lecturer at Bournemouth Media School.
