Playing the music of Handel

The Brook Street Band is an all-female ensemble that arranges and performs the works of Handel. This year marks the 250th anniversary of the composer's death and the group, who are named after the street in London’s Mayfair where Handel lived and composed, are doing a series of celebration concerts. Their repertoire will include the first London performances of some of his English cantatas which were believed to have been lost. To tell the story of how they came to be found Jane is joined by band-members Tatty Theo and Farran Scott, who will also be talking about their passion for Handel's music and the baroque instruments they play it on.

The Brook Street Band will be performing at the Wigmore Hall in London on 23rd Jan, 5th July and 23rd Oct 2009.
