A new trend in the organ lofts of the great cathedrals

At the end of December the Church of England unveiled plans to create a new kind of clergy called complementary bishops to look after parishes opposed to the ministry of women – it’s hoped it will hasten the ordination of women as bishops. Another assault on an Anglican male preserve was achieved in 2008 when Katharine Dienes Williams was appointed the first female Cathedral Director of Music. She’s at Guildford. Stuart Robinson reports on a new trend in the organ lofts of the great cathedrals – he spoke first to Judy Martin, Director of Music at Christ Church in Dublin.
