On the growing polarisation of American society

America is a polarised society and that division is getting deeper - so says journalist Barbara Ehrenreich. She is best known for her accounts of living among the working poor and highlighting inequalities in corporate America. But she has also attracted criticism for “marxism” and anti-Americanism. In her latest book "Going to Extremes", she portrays a country where the moneyed elite enjoy increasing luxury while the poorest struggle to make ends meet. She joins Jane to discuss her thoughts on America in election year and gives her response to her critics.

Going to Extremes: Notes from a Divided Nation by Barbara Ehrenreich published by Granta, ISBN-13: 978-1847080653
