The condition which leaves some people housebound and in constant pain.
It is estimated that over two and a half million people suffer from Fibromyalgia in the UK. Often a chronic condition, it can leave normally active people suddenly unable to move. Although the causes are not always known, it can be triggered by something as simple as a whiplash injury. Fibromyalgia may take years to be diagnosed and there are few treatment options, leaving many sufferers feeling that their illness is still not being taken seriously. To discuss the condition, Jane is joined by Dr Ernest Choy, Consultant Rheumatologist at King’s College, London, Janet Horton of the Fibromyalgia Association UK and by Barbara Scotland who has the condition.
