 Locals lead regeneration project in former mining town
For the past five years Channel 4 has worked with the Castleford community in West Yorkshire on a regeneration project intended to help rejuvenate this former mining town. The role of women from within the Castleford community has been crucial to its success - and achieving schemes from a new river bridge to a children's playforest in an area previously plagued by anti social behaviour.
Their stories and project progress has been filmed for a major Channel 4 series called Kevin McCloud and the Big Town Plan. It will become one of the world's first televised regeneration schemes and will be presented by Kevin McCloud of C4's Grand Designs
Jenni is joined by Alison Drake, Wendy Rayner and Rheta Davison, who have all been involved in the project.
Kevin McCloud and the Big Town Plan starts on Channel 4 on 11th August at 9pm
