Why are women earning less than their male colleagues?
A recent Law Society survey has found that male solicitors earn on average £19,000 more than female solicitors. In response to these findings, the Association of Women Solicitors [AWS] has launched an equal pay campaign which will run over the next two years. It aims to explore why there is an inequality of pay in the legal profession and it will suggest potential solutions. Fiona Woolf from the AWS – and a past president of the Law Society – will be heading up the campaign and joins Jenni to discuss why it is that female solicitors can sometimes find themselves earning a third less than their male colleagues. The Law Society The Association of Women Solicitors Disclaimer
