The relationship between income and family structure.
A new Civitas report, Second Thoughts on the Family, demonstrates the relationship between income and family structure. People on low incomes are considerably more likely to be unmarried and separated, with financial problems being a contributory factor to family instability. The Conservative Party believes that the two-parent family needs promoting, by offering financial incentives to marry. Labour, has adopted a ‘neutral’ position, in which family structure doesn’t matter, and support for diversity is key.
