Deciding to give up a profoundly disabled child
Julia Hollander's second baby was deprived of oxygen at birth, and at 5 months was diagnosed as severely brain damaged. It was every mother's worst nightmare - Imogen would never walk or talk and would need constant care. By that time, caring for Imogen had put the family under such enormous strain that they decided to place her in permanent care. Julia joins Jane to discuss the loss and liberation that decision brought.
When the Bough Breaks – a Mother’s Story is published on 6th March by John Murray, ISBN 978-0-7195-6457-4Julia Hollander
