When Adoption Breaks Down 16 Jul 2007
Halima - looking for a family
How adoption can go wrong and what can be done to prevent it.

The process of adoption is a highly emotional one for all concerned but what happens when it just doesn’t work out? One in five adoptions fails and the child is returned to social services. As BBC 1 starts its Family Wanted season, Jane talks to John Simmonds, Director of Policy at the British Association of Adoption and Fostering, and Julie Jarman, an adoptive mother who’s adoption process broke down.

If you would like to find out more about adoption, and to see profiles of some of the children waiting, call 0800 888 809 to order a free information pack or to speak to an adviser; text ‘PACK’ to 63399, or visit the Family Wanted website.
