The WI Packaging Survey 25 June 2007
Packaging Day of Action
How have supermarkets responded to the Women's Institute campaign?

A year ago, The Women’s Institute held a Packaging Day of Action and asked its members to return unnecessary and excessive packaging to supermarkets across the country. Now they are asking their members to take part in a packaging survey to evaluate how well supermarkets have responded to their campaign. So what changes have supermarkets made? Are they providing recyclable and compostable materials and is it feasible for us to demand they make these changes? Jane Little discusses the issues with Ruth Bond, Chair of the Public Affairs Committee of the WI, and Kevin Hawkins from the British Retail Consortium.

BBC 4’s new series The Women's Institute begins Monday 25th June at 9pm.
