Delilah 1 Mar 2007
Peter Paul RUBENSSamson and Delilah 1609 – 10 National Gallery, London
Delilah; ripe for rehabilitation?
The story of Samson and Delilah is one of the Bible’s most enduring – how the warrior was laid low by betrayal and a pair of scissors. A new novel by the American author David Maine has Samson looking back on his life as he’s blind, shaved and chained to the enormous pillars of a pagan temple. Figuring large is his relationship with Delilah.

Jenni is joined by David Maine and the historian Diane Purkiss to examine the woman and the myths of Delilah.
