Zimbabwean women - lowest life expectancy in the world 08 Dec 2006
According to the World Health Organisation women in Zimbabwe have a lower life expectancy than any country in the world. They can expect to live to just 34 years of age; even in war-torn Afghanistan, women’s life expectancy is 40. Zimbabwe has found itself at the centre of an AIDS pandemic, a food crisis and an economic meltdown that is killing an estimated 3,500 people a week.

Martha hears from Jenni Williams, founder of the 30,000 strong campaign group Women of Zimbabwe Arise about what women there face every day. And she discusses what the international community can do with Tiseke Kasambala, from Human Rights Watch and Gugu Moyo, of the International Bar Association.
