Pay gap widens for women at the top 7 Jun 2006
New research from the Equal Opportunities Commission shows for the first time, how the pay gap increases as women climb the career ladder. Women in full time work typically earn 17 per cent less than their male counterparts. But the top male earners tend to take home 27 per cent more than the highest earning women. So has the time come for mandatory pay audits for all employers? And would greater transparency over pay put an end to discrimination?

Jenni discusses the increasing pay gap at the top with Katherine Rake, director of the Fawcett Society and Patricia Peter from the Institute of Directors.
