Can a new intiative combat rape in war? 20 Feb 2006
Today the European Parliament is hosting a public meeting on women in armed conflict, and next month the UN is launching a major new initiative to combat the problem of rape in war.

Rape has been used as a weapon in war for centuries, so what can be done to stop it being regarded as a fact of life?  If men are brutalised by the act of killing, does it follow that they will also rape?  And with such an intractible problem, what hope is there for meetings and strategies such as these?

Jenni is joined by Mukesh Kapila, Director of Emergency Response and Operations at the World Health Organization and Tracy Ulltveit-Moe from Amnesty International.
