Induced Lactation 28 Aug 2009
Baby being breastfed
Breastfeeding a baby when you have never been pregnant.

Just fifteen minutes after the birth of her daughter Mimi, Kim Palmer began breastfeeding her. The midwife was amazed because Kim is unable to get pregnant and Mimi was born to a surrogate. Kim was able to breastfeed her new daughter because she induced lactation by following procedures that are often used by women who have been pregnant and who are finding it difficult to produce milk. She talks about her experience to Jenni Murray.  Also in the studio are Addy Henderson, a lactation consultant, and Dr Fiona Giles, author of Fresh Milk; The Secret Life of Breasts.

Fresh Milk; The Secret Life of Breasts is published by Simon & Schuster,
ISBN: 978-0-7432-1147-5
