Domestic Abuse: Women's Employment Support 24 Jul 2009
Domestic Violence in the home
What employers can do to support women who are being abused at home.

According to a survey carried out by the TUC, fifty percent of women workers say they had experienced, or knew a colleague, who had experienced domestic abuse. It’s estimated that the problem is costing employers three billion pounds a year in lost economic output as women stay away from work. Now a project in Manchester is encouraging employers to do more to support women who find themselves in an abusive relationship. Jo Barclay, Diversity Project Manager at the Co-operative Group & Alison Foreman from the DAWES project - Domestic Abuse Women's Employment Support join Sheila to discuss the issues.
