Three listeners give their opinions on dementia and friendship.
Last week we heard from one of our listeners about the the sad consequences that Alzheimer's can have on friendships. She described how, in the 14 years since her husband's diagnosis, their social network had fallen away to virtually nothing. She also talked about their friends’ reluctance to visit them both at home.
Many of you responded to the item, including Tony who has had two friends diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Stewart, whose wife Wendy has had fronto-temporal dementia for 12 years. Along with Lorna Coulson, a therapist and trainer working in the field of dementia, they share their experiences with Jane.
