The Ambassadors to Russia and Spain 25 Mar 2009
Women in Diplomacy

Anne Pringle and Denise Holt are our first female ambassadors in Russia and Spain respectively. Anne took up her position at the end of last year following the diplomatic crisis over the extradition of Andrei Lugovoi, the man suspected of murdering Alexander Litvinenko. The row forced the closure of the British Council in Moscow. Denise Holt has been British Ambassador to Spain for nearly two years. Jane talks to them both about their lives as ambassadors, the art of influence and the challenges and perks of the job.
