Parenting
Children and divorce 23 March 2009
Helping children survive separation and divorce

Over 28% of children in the UK have to cope with the dramatic effect of the separation of their parents. Very often they have to cope alone, as few children find someone to talk to when their family is breaking apart. Last month findings from the Good Childhood Inquiry revealed that children whose parents separate are 50% more likely to fail at school, suffer behavioural problems, anxiety or depression. So how best can parents help their children get through these difficult times? Jane is joined by Julie Lynn Evans, Psychotherapist and Author of What About the Children?; author and TV producer Daisy Goodwin whose memoir Silver Riiver describes her experience of being the child of divorced parents; and Simon Baker, who has chronicled his advice in How to Be A Great Divorced Dad.
