Social
Cannabis, Young People and Crime. 04 Feb 2009
Cannabis plant
What part does it play in anti-social behaviour?

Last week the government reclassified cannabis from a class C, to a class B drug – a reversal of its 2004 decision to downgrade it. Cannabis is now the main problem drug for young people who are often referred to specialist drug treatment services by youth offending teams. So what part does cannabis play in youth crime and what impact will the reclassification of the drug have on anti-social behaviour? Jenni is joined by Debra Bell, and William her eldest son, who began smoking cannabis as a teenager, and by Dr Sue Ruben, Consultant Psychiatrist, Deeside Hospital to discuss how crime and cannabis can become linked in the lives of young people.
